Top Trends in FinTech: 2017 and Beyond

While banks, insurers and investment managers may have been slow to adopt advanced systems to support and streamline processes in the past, fintech is now taking the world by storm. In fact, the PwC Global FinTech Report 2017 noted that investments in fintech will continue to increase over the next three to five years, as financial service providers cement partnerships with technology vendors.

Fintech offers considerable benefits for organizations in this industry – according to the report, companies working on fintech projects can expect to see a 20 percent return on investment on average.

As fintech continues to garner interest and become a more pressing part of financial service providers’ critical infrastructure, decision-makers must stay ahead of the curve and select the solutions that will offer the most value for their organizations. Top-trending solutions provide a jumping off point, showing executives the potential these systems can have for their internal and customer-facing processes.

Which fintech solutions should financial service providers consider first? Let’s take a look at the top trends for this year, and beyond:

1) Wider Acceptance of Fintech Solutions

The banking and financial service sector has historically hesitated when it comes to new technologies due to the industry’s needs for high-level security and data privacy. As a result, fintech options floundered in the past, as execs struggled with the best ways to balance security and compliance needs alongside new technological capabilities.

The situation has changed drastically recently, however, as more financial firms are seeking out advanced fintech solutions to address their most pressing industry pain points. While there are still important considerations to make with the implementation of innovative platforms and systems, the days of hesitation toward new technology are nearing an end.

“A large number of our clients are taking aggressive action to determine how they can use these technologies within their ecosystems,” noted Dilip Krishna, Deloitte & Touche LLP managing director and head of innovation. “They’re acting as venture capitalists and investing in their internal projects to see what specific problems these technologies can solve.”

2) Blockchain Becomes More Popular

Digital currencies initially threatened financial service providers, but recent months have seen more acceptance, especially given the rise of blockchain technology. Chargebacks911 explained that this technology comes as an alternative to the traditional transaction method of ACH clearing, and includes an accessible digital ledger to keep track of payments in real-time. In this way, transaction delays can be eliminated and overall use of digital currency can be streamlined for both banks and consumers.

Currently, more financial institutions are exploring the use of blockchain, and experts predict it will only gain popularity as a more efficient means of transactional record-keeping.

Mobile devices add efficiency.Mobile devices add efficiency.

3) Mobile Capabilities Help Level the Playing Field

The ability to use a mobile device to get work done on the go is a growing demand in every industry, and the financial service sector is no different. Fortune contributor Chirag Kulkarni noted that mobility is helping organizations enhance their customer focus, and is improving market competition for older financial service providers as they look to become more modern.

What’s more, support for mobile capabilities hasn’t just been a boon for banking customers – financial service providers have also found success with employee mobility, especially for workers that travel or operate from outside the office. The ability to leverage a mobile device helps ensure collaboration and productivity, and will continue to be an essential capability for financial service staff in the future.

4) Increasing Interest in Automation

An increase in automated processes has been seen across nearly every industry, and fintech is also riding this wave. Automation helps cut down on manual processes, improving efficiency while helping to cut down on human error. Automation, especially as it relates to transaction processing, will continue to be a top focus in financial service technology.

Leveraging Fintech Trends: Mobility and Automation

Financial service providers seeking ways to incorporate these trends within their businesses should consider all of their available options. Mobility and automation are especially key, and an expense reporting solution that supports both can provide a win-win for organizations and their employees.

An industry-leading expense reporting solution enables employees to track and submit expenses via their mobile devices, reducing the potential for lost receipts and unrecorded spending. In addition, such technology provides the best visibility for managers while supporting automated receipt processes and credit card transaction matching.

New Year, New Features and Better Usability: Tallie Expense Report Software 11.4 Release Notes

We’re starting the new year off right with a few expense report features that we think will jumpstart your productivity. Rather than having one unifying theme, we analyzed our feature backlog and picked the ones that deliver the most value for the broadest cross section of our clients. Take a look — we hope you enjoy!

New action menu featuring new Transfer Expense and Copy Expense functions

Tallie has always given users flexibility to perform all kinds of extra tasks on purchases prior to submission, but we are now providing centralized access to key tasks and functions in the new expense action menu. Included in this new menu are two new functions: Transfer Expense and Copy Expense.

Tallie Expense Report Software - New Action Menu

The new action menu holds all expense actions under one roof, including the new Copy and Transfer functions.

Transfer Expense

Perhaps you created a free trial by mistake and started importing expenses? Or you mistakenly created an expense in your own account instead of one you manage for another user? Transfer Expense functionality is now available for admins, Executive Assistants, and users with multiple Tallie accounts on the Purchases page, and in the mass edit action bar on Purchases and Expense Reports pages when more than one expense is selected. To transfer an expense, simply hover over the new action menu in the expense tile (also available in Purchases page Table view and Spreadsheet view), and then select an account to receive this expense. For more information, visit our support site and read our article on Transfer Expense.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Copy Expense

Copy Expense and Transfer Expense buttons are also available in the mass edit action bar on the Expense Reports page.

Copy Expense

Do you make purchases at the same store for the same reason? Does your company give you daily spending allowances? If so, the new Copy feature is going to save you a lot of time. Copy is available in the new action menu on the Purchases page, and in the mass edit action bar on Purchases and Expense Reports pages when only one expense is selected. Instead of entering all the details into a new expense, you’ll simply need to select a date to copy the expense to.

Bank Data Delivery now supports MasterCard

In the last release, we introduced our very own Credit Cards integration, Bank Data Delivery for Visa and American Express account holders. We’re excited to announce that this integration now supports MasterCard as well. For more information on Bank Data Delivery, please see Enhanced Corporate Card Control: Tallie Expense Reports Software 11.3 Release Notes.

[Beta] Auto-deduct standard commute from mileage expenses

The IRS has limits on businesses claiming mileage-based business expense deductions, specifically targeting deduction of the distance traveled during an employee’s daily commute. Many companies require employees to deduct their standard commute between home and work from most mileage trips in order to be in compliance with this IRS rule. Standard Commute Beta is here to help streamline the process for the clients who may need it as we gather feedback and continue to improve this feature.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Auto-deduct standard commute from mileage expenses

Tallie memorizes your previous standard commute distance so you’ll simply need to enter the start and end points.

Once Standard Commute has been enabled in your account, users will get an additional field, Standard Commute Distance, in the mileage edit view. The value entered here will be deducted from the Distance In Miles (calculated using the to and from addresses or manually adjusted) to get the Total Reimbursable Distance. Previously used Standard Commute Distance is memorized, so the next time the user creates a mileage, he/she will simply need to enter to and from addresses and the Reimbursable Distance will be calculated. Once the feature is enabled, any mileage expense without a standard commute deduction will be flagged as such.

Tallie Expense Reports Software - Standard Commute Badge

Once the feature has been enabled in your account, mileage expenses without standard commute deduction will be flagged.

This feature is currently in beta mode and will be released to our general user base after we receive feedback from our early evaluators and make further improvements. If you’re interested in being a part of the beta team, please contact our Product Experts and we will enable the feature for you.

Product enhancements & fixes

  • List of monthly active users is now available: Billing admins can now see a list of monthly active users to date at the bottom of Usage & Pricing tab in Regular enterprise, or Reseller Management tab in Affiliate enterprise (click on the individual Resold account to view active users for it).
  • Fixed QBO export issue where users were unable to export expenses with Projects when Billable feature is disabled in QBO.
  • Fixed the issue where end users were unable to see credit card profiles that have errors.
  • Fixed mobile issue where adjusted mileage distance would revert back to Google calculation on save.

We look forward to hearing how these upgrades have made managing your expense reports even easier. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to our Product Expert team at support@usetallie.com or by calling 888-874-1118 Ext 2.

Enhanced Corporate Card Control: Tallie Expense Reports Software 11.3 Release Notes

Here at Tallie, we understand that credit card transaction management is mission-critical for your expense report software. Our goal is to provide the most reliable credit card options among all the expense tracking products on the market, and streamline the processes for significant time savings. In this release, we are introducing our “Bank Data Delivery” credit card import experience for Visa and American Express. Additionally, we added the ability to export corporate card expenses to bank accounts in QuickBooks.

Bank Data Delivery Credit Card Feeds

At Tallie, we take pride on the award-winning integrations we’ve built from the ground up. In order to support an even wider range of financial institutions and provide comprehensive in-house support for credit cards, we implemented our newest credit card integration, Bank Data Delivery. Bank Data Delivery is the fourth credit card transaction import method we provide, which will coexist with credit card aggregator, statement upload, and Direct Connect (OFX). Because it requires an agreement with your bank, to initiate a Bank Data Delivery connection admins must contact a Product Expert, who will enable the feature, walk you through the setup and ensure a successful data delivery from your bank.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Bank Data Delivery Credit Card Feeds

Bank Data Delivery supports corporate card sub-accounts from Visa and American Express. New sub-account shows up automatically when the bank sends transactions attributed to it.

Bank Data Delivery is optimal for businesses with commercial cards that need support for tens to hundreds of corporate card sub-accounts. Once a profile setup has been completed, the credit card feed will appear like a normal feed as our current connection methods. Similar to the functionality when a new account is detected by our aggregator or PEX, when the bank sends transactions attributed to a new sub-account, it will show up on the Credit Cards page automatically.

At this time, Visa and American Express are fully supported. We plan to roll out Bank Data Delivery to MasterCard in early 2017. See our KB article for more details.

Export Corporate Card Transactions to Bank Accounts in QuickBooks

Admins who use Tallie to track debit card and/or bank account transactions (or use our PEX Card integration) can now export to QBD bank accounts! QBO users have had this functionality for a while and now QBD users can do the same.

To use this feature, simply map the corporate card to a bank account on Manage Lists > Company Cards page, and export per usual. Non-reimbursable charge export generates a check, while non-reimbursable credit export generates a deposit. Note that both charge and credit are exported to the specific, individual account mapped to the account on the Company Cards page. This feature also honors export settings including “Send merchant name to accounting” and custom payment memo.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Export Corporate Card Transactions to Bank Accounts in QuickBooks

Non-reimbursable charges are exported to the Bank account mapped to the company card.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Export Corporate Card Transactions to Bank Accounts in QuickBooks

Non-reimbursable credits are exported as deposits to the Bank account mapped to the Company Card. The “Received From” field contains the merchant name.

New Version of TallieConnect for QuickBooks Desktop Users

We have updated our QuickBooks Desktop sync tool TallieConnect to version 11.1.30. This version addresses the export duplication issues for customers in hosted environment and has been fully tested for QB 2017 compatibility.

Tallie Expense Report Software - TallieConnect Wrong File Detection

Warning when the selected QuickBooks file is not the same as the previously-synced file for the logged-in enterprise.

For admins who manage multiple Tallie accounts, we also made it harder to sync the wrong QB file by displaying a warning when the selected file to sync is different from the previously-synced one.

Tallie Expense Report Software - New TallieConnect Settings

New Settings menu: Ability to allow background syncing and turn off notifications.

Additionally, we made some changes to improve user experience, including the ability to suppress notifications and sounds in Settings, ability to allow TallieConnect to do background syncing, which will prevent QuickBooks from opening a secondary window when the correct file is already open in the primary window, and display a notification when Tallie is in maintenance mode. Download and install the latest version now to take full advantage of TallieConnect!

Additional Enhancements & Fixes

  • Sync Settings: Ask a Product Expert about configurable sync restrictions and the ability to suppress billable flag on export. (Only available to be configured by a Product Expert)
  • New Currency: Tunisian Dinar (TND)
  • CSV Export Template: We have added two additional Tallie Field options for Custom Export Date.
  • Intacct Multi-Entity: Ability to mass update “Export expenses to” in People list
  • Fixed additional approvers disappearing or not saving issue.
  • Fixed various QB export issues, including erroneous error “Merchant name already exists,” not billable expenses with project info being exported as billable, and various incidents of reports being stuck in Queued.
  • Fixed Analytics page fails to load when sorted by Merchant.

Happy holidays from Tallie!

We love your feedback, because it helps us improve the experience for everyone. Let us know how these updates help your workflow. Reach out to our Product Expert team at support@usetallie.com or by calling 888-874-1118 Ext 2.

The Fastest Expense Coding You’ve Ever Seen: Tallie 11.2 Expense Report Software Release Notes Featuring Spreadsheet View

We’ve been working on a new feature on the Purchases page for the past few months and we’re excited to unveil it in this release — the Purchases Page Spreadsheet view! Built with usability and efficiency in mind, the Spreadsheet view is the easiest-to-edit view on the Purchases page thus far. In addition, we implemented notifications to approvers when reports have been unsubmitted, added support for export as draft to Intacct, and addressed a variety of export issues that were raised since the last release. Read on for more details!

Purchases Page Spreadsheet View

The much-anticipated Spreadsheet view is now live! In the upper-right corner of the Purchases page, you can now switch between the Tallie signature tile view, the table view, and the latest Spreadsheet view. The Spreadsheet view is designed to provide power users a way to rapidly code and edit expenses by incorporating tab and return commands to navigate between cells. By displaying all expense details in individual cells, the Spreadsheet view also offers enhanced visibility.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Purchases Page Spreadsheet View

The Purchases Page Spreadsheet View features in-line edit and tab and return commands to navigate between cells.

Similar to Microsoft Excel, hitting the Return/Enter key saves the current cell’s content and navigates to the cell below, and the Tab key moves the cursor to the cell on the right after saving the current cell’s content. The Tab and Return magic doesn’t end here. Holding down the shift key and hitting Return saves the current cell’s content and takes you to the cell above it, while Shift + Tab saves the current cell before moving the cursor to the cell on the left. Just like Tile and Table views, use the category icons to select a few expenses. Once these expenses are selected, you may choose to edit all, delete all or start a report with the selected expenses.

We released Spreadsheet as a beta feature as we continue to fine-tune it, and we’re excited to hear your feedback and suggestions if you have any! Please note at this time Spreadsheet view is not supported in Firefox or IE browsers (including Edge).

Export Expense Reports as Draft to Intacct

The majority of our Intacct customers rely on Tallie to handle their approval process for expenses prior to export to Intacct. However, some of you have requested additional flexibility to allow for later approval processes in Intacct after export from Tallie. In order to serve your needs, we now offer export to both the Accounts Payable module (bills) and Time & Expense module (expense reports) in Draft state, in addition to the already-supported Approved state. Please note that a manual process is required in Intacct to mark these Draft bills and expense reports as Approved prior to payment.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Export to Intacct as Draft

Exporting reimbursable expenses in Draft state provides additional flexibility for exported data in Intacct.

Notifications to Approvers When Reports Have Been Unsubmitted

Tallie now sends a notification to anyone who received an approval email when the report has been unsubmitted, regardless of whether they’ve approved the report or not. (We released this feature early so you might have noticed it already!)

Tallie Expense Report Software - Unsubmit Notifications

Email notifications are sent to approvers when a report has been unsubmitted.

Additional Enhancements & Fixes

    • Analytics Page: New data added to Analytics CSV download, including credit card column, submit date, approved date, and export date.
    • Custom Payment Memo: We have added additional fields for customizing your payment memo on export. Please refer to our Customizing Payment Memo support article for more info.
    • Intacct Users: Stalled sync issue observed in Tallie accounts connected via Console credentials is fixed.
    • New Currency: GTQ Guatemalan Quetzal
    • Fixed various export issues, including page refresh being needed to see export error details, exported reports not being marked as Exported, incorrect expense item status messages when export destinations are split, hidden export errors causing reports to be stuck in Queued, reports being stuck in Queued when QBO token is bad, and various incidents of reports being stuck in export states that were unrelated to TallieConnect or QBO statuses.

We love to hear from you — even if it’s just to say hi. Let us know how these updates to our expense report software help your team. Reach out to our Product Expert team at support@usetallie.com or by calling 888-874-1118 Ext 2.

Critical Information at Your Fingertips: Tallie Expense Report Software 11.1 Release Notes

There’s been a mantra around the Tallie offices in the last few months — we’re on a mission to ensure a seamless expense report software management process for our client administrators. It’s a complex process to keep all your systems in sync, so we strive to keep it simple and functioning smoothly.

With that in mind, Tallie engineers have created a more robust export experience for our software release version 11.1 that provides you with more comprehensive status and historical information than ever before. Additionally, we’ve added a few enhancements to our integrations (particularly Intacct) and will begin sending out invoice and payment confirmation via email with the next billing cycle.

Export Status Tracking

Prior to exporting to any integrated system, Tallie has always run each expense report through a comprehensive validation process, where Tallie validates that all mapped entities on the report are active and properly linked to entities in the accounting system. If errors are found, the report will be placed in error state with specific steps towards remediation indicated. Once validation is complete, Tallie processes the expense data into a format appropriate for transmission to the target system and finally delivers the data. In version 11.1, we are now displaying to our users exactly which expenses and reports are validating or processing at any given time, before being transmitted. We hope this further transparency will help with troubleshooting and understanding of our process.

Tallie Expense Report Softaware - Status Tracking on Report Line Items

The status and destination of each expense is communicated in real time while the expense report is being exported.

What does Queued Status Mean?

If a report remains in queued state for a duration of time, Tallie is waiting to connect to the integrated system. QuickBooks Desktop customers can clear reports from queued state by signing in and connecting TallieConnect.

Expense Export History

Tallie’s powerful multi-destination export logic is capable of breaking apart a report and exporting it to a wide variety of destinations, including payroll files, practice management files, accounting systems and bill pay systems, all with the click of the Export button. With this power comes great responsibility, so we’re now appending an export history record to each individual expense on the export page. This history area will communicate to you where each expense has been exported and the most recent date/time of that export action.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Export History on Report Line Items

Once an expense has been exported, Tallie provides you with the destination and date/time of the export event.

Email Notifications for Subscription Billing

Tallie regularly bills our clients at the close of the month. We’ve made our invoices available in the Billing area of Settings for quite some time, but now we’re also going to send each system administrator an email with the full invoice prior to charging the credit card, and a follow-up receipt once the payment has gone through. We hope this helps you better track your Tallie costs. Please note that if you are on the Enterprise Plan, you may not receive these emails as regularly. Please refer to your signed agreement for your billing cadence.

Tallie Expense Report Software - Payment Receipt Confirmation

Invoice and payment receipt emails containing line item detail will be sent to company administrators.

Additional Feature Enhancements

  • Intacct Users: You can now mass update selection of export enterprise (Export Expenses To) on People page.
  • Intacct Users: We now provide Vendor on the line item when exporting to Accounts Payable.
  • Intacct Users: Your account can now be configured so that managers from Intacct are no longer assigned as approvers during sync. Please contact Support for system configuration.
  • New Currencies Added: MYR Malaysian Ringgit, EGP Egyptian Pound
  • Fixed: Archived expense categories are no longer being auto-mapped on iOS and Android apps.
  • Fixed Some customers had difficulty deleting credit card profiles.

Do these updates improve your process? Send us your thoughts on the latest version of Tallie expense report software – we love your feedback. You can reach out to our Product Expert team by email at support@usetallie.com or by calling 888-874-1118 Ext 2.

We are indebted to our accounting partners for their brilliant feedback and insight.

The last few releases have featured improvements based on these important relationships, and this mini release is no different. We made some small changes that we believe will help save time in the accounting cycle — we hope these tweaks will save you some time too.

Forward a Receipt from Your Email…and Pick Your Destination!

Let’s say you’re the business owner of three different restaurants and making regular purchases for each or perhaps you’re a staff accountant processing expenses on a regular basis for 10 different outsourced accounting clients. In both cases, because sign in privileges are based on email address, you have the ability to sign in to Tallie on the web or mobile app and switch between a variety of company accounts. However, if you’re forwarding email-based receipts we haven’t had a method to designate a destination company account, so Tallie has sent those email-based receipts to all connected company accounts.

Tallie Expense Report Software Enterprise Selector

When connected to multiple Tallie company accounts you will see each listed on the main selection screen

With this mini release, we’re introducing a new feature that lets you designate a company account destination for each emailed-in receipt. Simply edit the subject line of the email to include the name of the company account and that emailed-in receipt will be sent to that company account only.

Enter the name of your company in the subject line of your email

If you ever have any questions about which company account you’re currently using, just check the top right corner of your screen while signed in to the Tallie web app, or access the company-switching menu in the mobile apps.

In our 10.10.2 Mini Release we allowed for searching in all lists by accounting codes, giving power users more tools for coding their expenses. In this release, we’ve updated the appearance of those drop-down menus so that codes stand out as visual tags, enabling users to choose to focus more on codes or names, depending on their preference.

Tallie Expense Report Software Codes Styled as Tags

Accounting codes are now displayed as tags in Tallie drop-down menus

More Options & Better Performance: Tallie Expense Report Software 10.10 Release Notes

Fresh on the heels of our updated expense report app for iOS and Android, we’re happy to announce the release of Tallie expense report software v10.10. We focused on giving our account administrators a greater range of options for managing Tallie accounts and spent quite a bit of time improving overall Tallie performance. Additionally, we’ve released a brand new status page at status.tallie.com, which you can use to track Tallie uptime. If you’d like to be the first to know about our scheduled maintenance or performance issues, subscribe to updates on that page. Here are some more details on the release:

Drop-Down Menu Performance

When it’s time to code your expenses to classes, projects and other accounting list data, you want the process to be quick and painless. We’ve introduced a few solutions to help you along.

Tallie Expense Report Software Improved Drop Down Menu Performance

Visual Display of Relationships
Let’s say you have multiple layers of projects, departments or locations. We now help you sort through this data by displaying parent-child relationships with visual indentation in the lists.

Search by Parent Project
For our customers who use the Tallie projects list to manage multiple jobs for each of their clients, we’ve built the ability to search for sub-projects by the parent name.

Accounting Code Display
If your company uses codes to reference classes, locations, customers and any other list data, we’ll show those codes to you in the drop down menu as well.

Billable Feature Controller

We originally built Tallie with professional service providers in mind, giving them powerful tools to track expenses against customers and jobs, as well as the flexibility to bill expenses directly back to clients. As it turns out, many of our customers who love Tallie actually don’t have any need for these project billing features. With this release, we’re offering the ability to hide this functionality for all your users, right from the Features page in the Company Preferences area of Tallie Settings.

Tallie Expense Report Software Billable Feature Controller

Integrations Performance

Tallie’s best in class direct integrations with QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Intacct and Xero are constantly being tuned and improved. Plus, our recently released scheduled file data transfer integrations for other accounting and practice management systems are getting regular improvements as well. Here are a few of the enhancements we offer with this release:

Tallie Expense Report Software Syncs with Bill.com and QuickBooks Online

Certified Support for Bill.com’s Sync 2.0 for QuickBooks Online
Tallie is the only expense report software offering simultaneous integration with both Bill.com and an accounting system. Bill.com recently upgraded their support for QuickBooks Online, and this release guarantees simultaneous support for customers using the Sync 2.0 between Bill.com and QuickBooks Online. Plus, we’re now ensuring that Tallie always syncs with both QuickBooks Online and Bill.com, even if your Tallie environment is configured to export only to Bill.com.

Fewer Sync Errors
Tallie uses sync errors to communicate when issues need to be addressed in communicating with other systems, but sometimes the sync errors can be extra unnecessary information. We’ve suppressed some of these basic errors so you can enjoy Tallie without the extra chatter.

Improved Processing of Massive Files
We have a few customers who use our file data transfer integration to send tens of thousands of projects to Tallie from their practice management systems. We’ve updated how we work through those files to get better performance than before.

Feature Improvements

In addition, we made a couple of additional functional improvements to Tallie. They include:

  • More improvements were made to the duplicate detection algorithm to make it more accurate
  • We added two new currencies: Vietnamese Dong and Mozambican Meticals
  • We’ve begun a process to help resolve issues with duplicated transactions delivered to Tallie from credit card bank transaction feeds. This release should provide some improvement, with more to come.

Bug Fixes

There were also quite a few small issues resolved in this release. They include:

  • Custom payment memo is applied to item-mapped credit card transactions in Xero, QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
  • When exporting paid bills to BIll.com, the invoice date now always matches the process date
  • Some customers reported issues in viewing HTML receipts after export to Bill.com. We’ve resolved that issue.
  • Our usage graph that we provide in the Billing area to track your usage to date showed a false spike half way through last month. We’ve resolved that issue as well.

Supercharged Duplicate Detection & Automated Data Transfer: Tallie Expense Report Software 10.9 Release Notes

It’s getting well into fall and we’re dreaming of changing leaves, hot chocolate by fireplaces and the upcoming holidays. In the spirit of sharing the warm fuzzies, we’ve just released some major new developments that will make accountants’ hearts sing. Take a look at some of the highlights from the newest version of Tallie’s expense report software and let us know what you think!

Expanded & Enhanced Duplicate Management Tools

After speaking with many of our clients, we discovered that there were a few key areas where we could provide meaningful enhancements to your experience with managing duplicate expenses.

Review All Duplicates at Once
Gone are the days where you must search the page for any orange Possible Duplicates flag. Clicking on one duplicate pair will bring up a lightbox that will allow you to review all duplicate pairs on the page sequentially, without having to leave that view.

Differentiate Between User-Rejected Pairs and User-Ignored Pairs
Approvers and finance teams have historically been notified of possible duplicate pairs, no matter whether the original submitter ignored the flag or dismissed the flag. In order to cut down on noise and provide an additional layer of meaningful visibility, approvers and admins will now see a gray “Not Duplicates” flag which indicates when the submitter rejected a possible duplicate pair. The traditional orange “Possible Duplicates” flag will remain in place whenever a submitter has chosen to ignore the flag and submit anyway.

Duplicate Resolution Rights Granted to Approvers and Administrators
In the past, approvers and finance teams could only review expenses flagged as duplicates, but could not resolve them. This created a process requiring an expense report rejection, a delay for the submitter to resolve the issue, then a restart of the approval process. In order to cut out unnecessary delays, approvers can now merge expenses they believe to be duplicates and administrators can merge or delete duplicates. Furthermore, if the duplicate flag was rejected by the original submitter (see section above), approvers and administrators can override that decision.

Now Offering Automated Data Transfer for ANY System

We’ve often gotten requests during implementation for custom integrations with on-premise solutions like Microsoft Dynamics GP, Oracle or practice management systems. We’re thrilled to announce that this release includes the capability to establish an automated data transfer process between Tallie and any non-integrated system via sFTP scripted file transfer.

Expense Report Software File Upload Templates

On the Tallie side, the setup couldn’t be easier. Any account can be configured to receive data via sFTP simply by flipping a switch. Once sFTP is activated, Tallie provides you with standardized data template files as well as a custom username/password combination for Tallie’s sFTP server. You can then implement a scripting process in your system to pull data out in a format compatible with the template files and deliver updates to Tallie on a regular basis.

If you are interested in configuring your system to for automated data transfer with Tallie, please reach out to our Product Experts at support@usetallie.com who can guide you through the process or connect you with a VAR who is experienced with scripting data retrieval from your system.

Custom Memo Support for Items
Typically, payment memos on bills, checks and credit card charges are populated with Item Description, a field that is synced between Tallie and your accounting or bill pay system. However, we’ve received many requests to be able to customize the memo based on the specific transaction. We now offer customization on both the individual Item and the Export Settings pages. This feature is compatible with every Tallie integration, which includes QuickBooks for Windows, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Bill.com and Intacct.
